Estimator, ICI Construction

• Review drawings, specifications, and tender documents to develop accurate and competitive estimates
• Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs and pricing for labour, materials, equipment, and subcontracted work
• Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing and ensure complete scope coverage
• Identify potential risks, constructability challenges, and opportunities for value engineering
• Prepare general conditions and project-specific costs, considering scheduling, site logistics, and construction requirements
• Participate in tender reviews, bid closings, and final estimate submissions
• Assist with proposals, prequalifications, and budgeting for new project opportunities
• Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, consultants, and industry partners
• Work collaboratively with operations and project management teams to ensure a smooth transition from estimating to construction

About You
The ideal candidate is a motivated and detail-oriented Estimator who enjoys the challenge of putting together competitive bids and wants to grow with an established Ottawa General Contractor.
The successful candidate will have the following:

• 2–5 years of estimating experience within the commercial and institutional construction sector, ideally with a General Contractor
• A diploma or degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience
• A strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, materials, and building methods
• Experience preparing quantity takeoffs, subcontractor scopes, and detailed project estimates
• Familiarity with lump sum tendering, construction management, design-build, and other project delivery methods
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tenders simultaneously
• Excellent communication skills and confidence working with subcontractors, suppliers, and internal project teams
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction estimating software
• A proactive, team-oriented attitude and a genuine interest in building a long-term career in estimating

About the Job

• Location: Ottawa, Ontario

• Salary Range: $90,000 to $110,000, plus performance incentives
